Glial Cell Modulation: SLC022Solace's most advanced program is a glial cell modulating compound with extensive human safety data and strong preclinical proof of concept. Solace is initiating phase II clinical trials of this compound for the treatment of neuropathic pain. Additionally, Solace has active research efforts and intellectual property focused on improved drug formulations and second generation backup compounds. Tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) Modulation: A drug discovery program based on a groundbreaking discovery linking the up-regulation of the BH4 synthetic pathway and the rate limiting synthetic enzyme GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (GCH-1) to chronic pain. People with variations in GCH-1 gene experience less pain. This observation, coupled with preclinical work on GCH-1 inhibition, supports this therapeutic approach to treating chronic pain. The company is also exploring a broader utility for the BH4 pathway in pain management including pursuing the genetic variations in GCH-1 expression as a potential diagnostic and biomarker to optimize pain treatments. Pursuing new opportunities Solace continues to pursue additional innovative therapeutic approaches to treating pain.
